Leave room around any independent plans, follow the ship’s shuttle instructions, and head back with a comfortable margin before the posted return time.
Ensenada is a different kind of day. Carnival’s shore tours begin at the pier, and its walking tours show that you can keep a visit close to the port. If you choose an outing farther away, make the return trip part of your decision. Carnival says it will wait for guests on its own shore excursions; it does not have the same awareness of independently booked tours. Check the return time given aboard before you leave the ship.
Should you drive to Long Beach or stay the night before?
Make sure your ride goes to the Long Beach Cruise Terminal beside the Queen Mary, rather than the Port of Los Angeles terminal in San Pedro.
